چکیده

Recently, Wittig and co-workers have published rate coefficients kðEÞ for the unimolecular decomposition of photoinitiated NO2 close to the dissociation threshold [Chem. Phys. Lett. 358 (2002) 71]. They found out that kðEÞ for low angular momentum J exhibits a strong increase within 25 cm 1 of the reaction threshold. The authors emphasize that their experimental results are surprising and cannot be understood quantitatively on the basis of current theory on NO2. In this Comment we demonstrate that recent quantum mechanical calculations of NO2 resonances on a global 3D-potential energy surface can indeed explain their data close to the dissociation threshold as well as for larger excess

Time - resolved studies of NO 2 photoinitiated unimolecular decomposition : step - like variation of kuni

Time-resolved, subpicosecond-resolution measurements of NO2 photoinitiated unimolecular decay rates are reported for jetcooled samples in the vicinity of the dissociation threshold. The molecules are excited by 385-400 nm tunable subpicosecond pulses to the *Bz electronic state which is very strongly mixed with the 2A, ground electronic state. Subsequent decomposition is probed by a 226 nm subp...

Photoinitiated unimolecular decomposition of NO2: Rotational dependence of the dissociation rate

Photoinitiated unimolecular decomposition rate constants of rotationally excited NO2 molecules have been measured near dissociation threshold (D0) by employing a double resonance technique. Rotational selectivity has been achieved by using narrow-linewidth ~0.015 cm! infrared excitation to prepare specific rotational levels (N851,3,...,15, Ka850) of the ~1,0,1! vibrational level. The picosecond...

Plasmon-induced enhancement of intra-ensemble FRET in quantum dots on wrinkled thin films

We demonstrate increased intra-ensemble energy transfer (ET) in monodispersed semiconducting quantum dots (QDs), mediated by localized plasmons on metallic thin films with nano-scale wrinkles. The increased ET results in a net spectral red-shift, up to three-fold increase in emission intensity, and a faster radiative recombination rate of the ensemble. The extent of the red-shift is dependent o...

Optical and Electrical Properties of Vertically Aligned Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

A new insight is gained on the structure of the vertically aligned single-wall carbon nanotubes (VA-SWNTs) [1-3] generated by alcohol catalytic CVD (ACCVD) technique [4]. The thickness-controlled growth of VA-SWNTs by using in-situ laser absorption method is now a routine as in Fig. 1(a) [2]. Our recent finding of the simple removal method using hot-water [5] enabled us to transfer this film to...
